As some of you know, I have been writing a book about recovery in North Wales, in particular about North Wales Recovery Communities (NWRC) and Eternal Media. These two recovery communities have been doing amazing work over the past decade.
The book is tentatively called Transforming Pain Into Power: Recovering From Addiction and Helping Communities Thrive. It has involved Zoom conversations with 16 individuals; in the vast majority of cases, we have connected Perth (Western Australia) and North Wales on more than one occasion for each person. In addition to writing about these recovery communities, I have also been preparing a number of Recovery Stories, in collaboration with a ‘crew’ of truly inspirational people. I am truly very grateful to all those people who are involved in this project.
Writing this book has been quite a challenge and I’ve been working on it for some months now. I’m keen to complete a first draft (or almost all of it) by the end of April, so that I can then focus on storyboarding the structure of the book, and completing the second draft.
Given this plan, and my desire to be highly focused for a period, I have decided to take some time out from posting on our Recovery Voices website over the coming month, unless there is some important news I need to write about. [NB. I will continue linking to randomly selected old RV posts on my Facebook page and that of the website.]
I have just looked through the website and was surprised by the number of posts we have made. The blog comprises 278 posts (plus this one), and they are accompanied by 231 other posts. Yes, the website comprises over 500 pages.
Before finishing, I’d just like to thank you for the support you have given us since we launched this website in September 2023. I have been very grateful for all those people who have contacted me directly at one time or other.
I hope you all have a great April. I’ll see you on 1 May, when we will begin a month of celebrations for the 10-year anniversary of NWRC. Thank you.
