So of you may have seen my blog post Euphoric Recall by Aidan Martin, which was about the excellent book that Aidan wrote about his life, including his recovery from addiction. I’ve been following Aidan’s activities as described on his Facebook page since I first across him.
Today, I want to celebrate the first anniversary of a charity, The Scheme, that Aidan and artist Mark Deans have set up. Here is an article I found about this anniversary on the West Lothian News Facebook page.
VERY few charities have achieved as much in 12 months as The Scheme, which celebrates its first anniversary as a full time charity tomorrow, 15 March.
In such a short space of time, the charity, set up by Aidan Martin and Mark Deans, has seen more than 1,100 attendees at its various workshops, including creative writing, lego, film making and art. An incredible 200 people turned up to the film group’s premiere video.
The charity also carries out work in Addiewell Prison, does drop-in sessions in the community and makes visits to schools.
To get just a flavour of the incredible work done by The Scheme, we popped into their base at West Lothian College this afternoon to talk to Aidan and Mark.
You can contact The Scheme – Livingston on its various social media channels, or feel free to just turn up to the workshops.’
