One of the things that I love about working in the recovery field is seeing the Ripple Effect of recovery within and across communities. This Ripple Effect can manifest itself in various ways.
Some of you will have seen my blog post The National Lottery Community Game Changer Award: Marcus Fair in September last year. Marcus, the Founder of Eternal Media, was one of seven Game Changers from across the UK who were chosen and honoured as part of The National Lottery’s 30th birthday celebrations.
The Game Changers were honoured ‘in recognition of their game-changing impact on their respective communities with the help of National Lottery players who raise £30 million every week for good causes.’ Marcus’s head, along with the heads of other Game Changers, spent time floating on a lake in St. James’s Park. [You can see a photograph in the above blog post.]
Marcus has continued to be invited to other National Lottery celebratory events. Last week, he was invited to a celebration in the Welsh Parliament Building (The Senedd) in Cardiff. Here is his post about the event on Facebook.
‘I don’t often wear a suit, but nowadays I don’t have a toothbrush in the top pocket when I do!
I’m very proud to have been asked to represent our amazing team from Eternal Media today.I was invited by The National Lottery and Allwyn as one of their Game Changers to further participate in their 30th birthday celebrations and to meet Members of The Senedd to talk about what we’re up to in Wrexham and the positive ripple effect we’ve been having across Wales for nearly 10 years.
The lottery team on and off stage spoke as passionately about supporting people as we do and it was lovely to see some of the team who supported me in the London events. I’m told more are planned through the year.
It was great to see lots of other organisations who have benefited from lottery funding, and how they have put the money to good use. Truly inspirational!
Thank you everyone who came over and said hello, had a chat and made me feel so welcome today. It feels like we made a lot of new friends today.’
Well done again on your Community Changer Award, Marcus. You and your Eternal team are certainly creating plenty of ripples, not only through your ‘direct’ work in communities, but also through your films and podcasts. Well done, Eternal Media!
