Tim Leighton first introduced me to the amazing writings of William (Bill) L. White, leading addiction recovery advocate, historian, researcher and practitioner. Bill’s work has had a massive impact on me and my work over the years.
On 18 March 2009, Tim and I both spoke at a conference in London organised by Action on Addiction and my grassroots initiative Wired In, with the main speaker being Bill White. Addiction recovery advocates from around the UK were invited to the conference, which was a great success. Here is a short clip taken from Tim’s conversation with Wulf Livingston.
Discovering Bill White: Tim Leighton [1’52”]
Tim describes his discovery of Bill White as an ‘Aladdin’s Cave moment’. He started reading Bill’s writings in the early 2000s, and views him as writing so sensitively and wisely ‘about virtually everything’ relating to recovery, treatment and addiction.
